Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan jointly with the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kazakhstan - Japan Center for Human Development is organize on 20th November, 2016 from 12.00 to 16.00 "Day of Japan Culture in Almaty"
Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan for more than 10 years actively cooperates with the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Kazakhstan. In the museum such exhibitions which aroused great interest among the scientific and cultural community and have received considerable attention in the national media, as "Japanese Doll", "The world through the eyes of the master of kimono Ititku Kubota", "The memory of Hiroshima and Nagasaki", an exhibition of paintings on the art of "Isekatagami" and others were organized.
At the festival, visitors can get acquainted with the cultural traditions and contemporary art, music, dance, cuisine and the latest Japanese technology. The aim of the event is to strengthen of cultural cooperation, the development of relations and deepening of mutual understanding between Kazakhstan and Japan, as well as the introduction of residents and guests of Almaty with the traditions and customs of Japan.
The program includes a demonstration of Japanese martial arts, the performance of the drummer band on the Japanese taiko drums "Ooedodayko". Visitors will get acquainted with the art of origami, isekatagami (Japanese craft of making paper stencils for the dyeing of textiles), kirie, furoshiki, etc., learn to write hieroglyphs and properly pour tea on the Japanese tea ceremony, cooking traditional Japanese meals, play kendama (Japanese traditional game).
It is also planned the participation of Japanese companies Sony, Tokyo Rope, Nakajima Jukyudo, the Japanese Foreign Trade Organization (JETRO), and others.
Day of Japan Culture in Almaty will open Director of the Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursan Alimbay and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Kazakhstan Mr. Ichiro Kawabata.
The festival will not only show the richness and diversity of the traditions of the eastern country, but also will promote mutual understanding and friendship between our peoples.
