The exhibition "DAUIRLER UNI: KAZAKH BAS KIIMDERI" ("The Voice of the Ages: Traditional Kazakh headwares") opens at the National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan on June 26, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. based on the museum's stock collections.
The main purpose of the exhibition is to widely present the cultural and historical significance of traditional headdresses, which occupy a special place in the centuries–old history and spiritual worldview of the Kazakh people. Thanks to the exhibition, visitors will be able to get acquainted with the history of origin, usage features and artistic and aesthetic characteristics of such integral elements of national clothing as "saukele", "kimeshek", "takiya", "borik", "tymak", "kalpak" and other types of headdresses.
The exhibition vividly reflects the high artistic taste of Kazakh craftsmen, the best traditions of folk crafts, the richness of national culture and spiritual values. In addition, the exhibition is aimed at popularizing the ideas of preserving and promoting cultural heritage. The exhibition will feature more than 40 exhibits from the collections of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Among them are valuable examples of traditional Kazakh headdresses, rarely shown to the general public: "kulapara", "dalbagai", "ak kalpak" and other historical types of headdresses. Helmets and weapons reflecting the military culture of Kazakh warriors will also be presented to the visitors.
The exhibition will feature objects widely used in the daily life of the people. Special attention is paid to other everyday objects and their purpose in traditional culture. The exhibition will provide visitors with an opportunity to learn more about the culture of the national costume of the Kazakh people and touch the heritage of their ancestors.
The exhibition will run until July 31, 2026.
