Sarov Serzhan Barakhanovich – Director of the museum
Sarov Serzhan Barakhanovich was born on January 8, 1983 in Almaty region, Yenbekshikazakh district, Karazhota village .
2002-2006 Graduated from Al- Farabi Kazakh National University, Faculty of History, majoring in history, law and fundamentals of economics. 2018-2020 Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University, Institute of History and Law. Master of Historical Sciences.
He began his career in 2007 as a junior researcher at Almaty History Museum. In 2008-2017, he held the positions of researcher, senior researcher, and head of the historical and cultural and scientific exhibition departments. From the beginning of 2018, he was approved for the position of Deputy Director for Science of the State Enterprise “Association of Museums of the City of Almaty” and in the same year as acting director.
2019 – 2020 was appointed director of the State Public Enterprise “Association of Museums of the City of Almaty”
2020 – 2022 Deputy Director for Science of the State Enterprise “Association of Museums of the City of Almaty”
2022 -2023 Advisor to the Director of «Алматы әуендері»
2023 – 2025 Deputy Director for General Affairs of Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
2007-2010 Participated in archaeological research work within the framework of the State Program of Cultural Heritage of A. Margulan Institute of Archeology.
2014 – 2018 engaged in scientific research work, supervised the protection of more than 140 monuments in the city of Almaty.
Participated in the exhibition work of the Almaty Museum. Over the years of managing the museum, he organized events of various sizes : the festival “Renaissance: Museum Caravan”, the exhibition “Altyn Khanshayim ”, a round table on the 125th anniversary of M. Zhumabaev, presentation of the book “ Writing Library” Mukanova ”, the “Night at the Museum” event, master classes, literary and musical evenings, meetings and others.
In 2025, he was awarded the state award “Ерең еңбегі” (“For labor achievements”).
Araily Bakytovna Balayeva – Deputy Director for Museum Management and Marketing.
Balayeva Araily Bakytovna was born on February 9, 1982 in Zhambyl district of Almaty region.
In 1998-2002. Graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the Abai Almaty State University with a degree in Kazakh language and Literature in schools with a non-Kazakh language of instruction.
In 2002-2004 . Master’s degree at the Kazakh National University named after Abai. Master’s degree in Pedagogy.
In 2022-2025. Doctoral studies at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.
Since 2006, he has been working at the RSE “Central State Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan”:
2006 - Manager of the highest qualification level of the highest category of the museum management sector of thе Center for Cultural and Educational Work.
2006–2007 The archivist of the highest qualification level of the highest category of the department of organizational and personnel work.

Nurlan A. Atygayev – Deputy Director for Scientific Work
Candidate of Historical Sciences, Professor, and one of the country's leading researchers in the field of medieval history and culture of Kazakhstan and Central Asia. He is the author of over 170 scientific publications on the medieval history of Eurasia. Among them are 3 scientific monographs: "The Kazakh Khanate in the Flow of History. Essays", "The Kazakh Khanate: Essays on the History of Foreign Policy in the 15th–17th Centuries", and "Money on the Silk Road (Territory of Kazakhstan, 13th–14th Centuries)". Over the past 5 years, he has published more than 50 research papers. Fifteen of N.A. Atygayev's scientific articles have been published in international peer-reviewed journals indexed in Web of Science and Scopus databases. His research works have been published in both near and far abroad, including Turkey, China, the Russian Federation, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Armenia, and other countries.
Under the leadership of N.A. Atygayev, 2 targeted funding research programs and 3 grant-funded research projects have been successfully implemented. In 2024, he was awarded the title of "Best Researcher 2024". Currently, Professor N.A. Atygayev serves as the scientific supervisor of a mega-grant funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MSHE RK). N.A. Atygayev is also the Editor-in-Chief of the scientific-practical journal "MUSEUM.KZ" published by the National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
