On October 7, 2026, at 4 p.m., the National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan will open «My Favorite City», an exhibition of artworks by participants of the Active Longevity Center in Almaty.

Everyone has a city that holds a special place in their heart. It is tied to childhood and youth, to cherished memories, important encounters, familiar streets, and memorable places one longs to return to. For some, it is a bustling city or avenue, while for others, it’s a quiet courtyard and an old house, and for others its still, favorite places linked to vivid, unforgettable events. In their works, the participants show their cities as they feel and remember them: sunny and snowy, lively and contemplative, changing with time yet always dear. The participants in their works, in the «My Favorite City» exhibition, depict cities as they experience and remember them: sunny and snow-covered, bustling and contemplative, changing over time, yet always dear to their hearts.

The exhibition will present works by 35 participants, united by a love for their hometowns. Through paintings and graphic works, the authors convey their perception of the city, its recognizable streets, architectural landmarks, and natural landscapes.

The exhibition presents the city as a place where past and present meet, family stories are preserved, and a distinctive urban atmosphere takes shape. Familiar landscapes and images of the city appear in the participants' works, filled with warmth, sincerity, and a personal artistic vision.

Creative activity is one of the important areas of work at the Active Longevity Center of Almaty. Engaging in art fosters self-expression, develops creative abilities, widens social circles, and encourages older people to take an active part in the city's cultural life.

 The participants work under the guidance of Marlan Kenesov Nysanbayev, a graphic artist and watercolorist, member of the Artists' Unions of Kazakhstan and Georgia, and vice-president of the Academy of Arts of Kazakhstan. He has been awarded the medals «Qazaq onerinin qairatkeri» (Distinguished Figure of Kazakh Art) and «Eren eñbegi üshin» (For Distinguished Labor), and is an academician of the Art-Mondial World Academy of Arts of France. His professional support helps participants master artistic techniques and find their own creative style.

«My Favorite City» shows that creativity has no age limits, and that familiar places can become a source of discoveries.

The National Central Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan invites residents and guests of Almaty to visit the exhibition and get to know the work of the Active Longevity Center's participants.
